About Program

PJS – Prague Jewish Studies
The Prague Jewish Studies program (PJS) is an interdisciplinary educational program at the Faculty of Arts of Charles University, one of Europe’s oldest learning institutions. Courses are offered during the spring and summer terms with instruction in English. The courses are taught by Charles University academic faculty members or instructors appointed by the PJS Academic Council. The program is intended for both resident and international students.

Our Location
The PJS Program is located at Charles University, Faculty of Arts in Prague. The city is home to more than 1.2 million people and it is in the heart of Europe. The Czech Republic is an inland state in the central part of Europe and it borders Germany, Austria, Slovakia and Poland. Its borders (length 2,303 kilometres) are mainly historical and belong to the oldest in Europe.


The Prague Jewish Studies program offers:

Spring program

• Students are encouraged to take four to five courses a semester plus the Two-Week Czech Language and Culture Course for a maximum 18 U.S. credits or 36 ECTS (European) credits. Courses are taught in English.

• Orientation week with two free day trips to important sites in the Czech Republic

Summer program
• Students may sign up to four courses for a maximum 12 U.S. credits or 24 ECTS (European) credits. 
• On-site orientation

Spring&Summer program

• Tuition & official transcript of records issued by Charles University
• Small class sizes
• Optional independent studies (research-based)
• Computer use within the university
• Access to the university libraries
• 2 walking tours around Prague
• Two weekend excursions to Berlin and Vienna (includes: transportation, accommodation, some entrance fees and guided tours);  Day excursion in the Czech Republic - Terezin Memorial
